Comments on "Polynomial Time Verification of Decentralized Diagnosability of Discrete Event Systems" versus "Decentralized Failure Diagnosis of Discrete Event Systems": Complexity Clarification

چکیده
An article on codiagnosability verification of discrete event systems was reported in [1], claiming an improvement in complexity over [2]. This note clarifies an oversight in the complexity analysis of [1]. Further the results of [1] were obtained in a more restricted setting of “projection masks”, in contrast to the more general “nonprojection masks” allowed in [2], which was overlooked. Finally in the special case when the projection masks are used, the complexity of [2] is lower compared to the non-projection masks case, and equals the corrected

Decentralized prognosis of fuzzy discrete-event systems
This paper gives a decentralized approach to the problem of failure prognosis in the framework of fuzzy discrete event systems (FDES). A notion of co-predictability is formalized for decentralized prognosis of FDESs, where several local agents with fuzzy observability rather than crisp observability are used in the prognosis task. An FDES is said to be co-predictable if each faulty event can be...
متن کاملA polynomial algorithm for testing diagnosability of discrete-event systems
Failure diagnosis in large and complex systems is a critical task. In the realm of discrete event systems, Sampath et al. proposed a language based failure diagnosis approach. They introduced the diagnosability for discrete event systems and gave a method for testing the diagnosability by first constructing a diagnoser for the system. The complexity of this method of testing diagnosability is e...
متن کاملDiagnosis of Discrete Event Systems Using Decentralized Architectures
Decentralized diagnosis of discrete event systems has received a lot of attention to deal with distributed systems or with systems that may be too large to be diagnosed by one centralized site. This paper casts the problem of decentralized diagnosis in a new hierarchical framework. A key feature is the exploitation of different local decisions together with appropriate rules for their fusion. T...
متن کاملNew Results on Decentralized Diagnosis of Discrete Event Systems
The past decade has witnessed the development of a body of theory, with associated applications, for fault diagnosis of dynamic systems that can be modeled in a discrete event systems framework. This paper presents several new notions of diagnosability, together with on-line diagnosis decision rules, in the context of a general decentralized architecture that allows for the use of “conditional ...
متن کاملA Coordinated Decentralized Protocol for Failure Diagnosis of Discrete Event Systems
We address the problem of failure diagnosis in discrete event systems with decentralized information. We propose a coordinated decentralized architecture consisting of two local sites communicating with a coordinator that is responsible for diagnosing the failures occurring in the system. We extend the notion of diagnosability, originally introduced in 1] for centralized systems, to the propose...
